Al Capone Notecard Confessions
This week I made a notecard confession video. The topic I chose to do my video over was Al Capone. I thought this would be an interesting video and a new way of looking at Al Capone. I wanted to choose someone different and someone who wasn't always shown in the best of light. This could show students that they could do this assignment on just about anyone.
The first thing I did when making this video after deciding my topic was do some research. I found a website that told all about Al Capones life. I read through the site, took notes, and decided what parts to include. After that I wrote the notecards, this was the most challenging part for me because it had to all flow together nicely. I practiced reading through them to make sure everything went together. The last thing I did was record the video. I did this with the video app provided on the iPad.
To to make the video I used iMovie. I just put the video I had recording into iMovie and chose a filter I thought looked good. I went to iTunes and found a song that I thought would go well with my video and then put that into the video.
I could see myself using this in a classroom for a Social Studies assignment. I would have the students pick someone from history in the section we were learning about and make a notecard confession about their lives. This would also be a good assignment to incorporate groups into. The students could work together to come up with ideas and facts for the video. This also gives the students some control over their learning. I think this would be a fun assignment for any age group.
