Google+ Communities |
This week I drove into Google+ communities. You can access this through the Google+ app or from a computer. All you need to get an account is an email. I think this is a good resource for teachers because there are communities for so many things. There are communities that are very detailed like ones for content area, grade level, or there very general communities like just elementary teachers. After you join a community you can post and really dig into what the community has to offer. There are videos, links, pictures, and other things posted on communities every community is different. Some communities even have lesson plans available for you to use. I would really take advantage of the resources these communities have to offer. One of the communities I chose to join was Lesson Plans for Kindergarten. I joined this community because I hope to become a kindergarten teacher. This community is exactly what the title states, its people posting lesson plan ideas and resources. Valentine's and Martin Luther King day just recently passed so there were a lot of lessons about what you could possibly do with your kindergarteners to help teach a lesson about those days. This community is a great resource for getting craft ideas. While I was exploring I found a lot of neat ideas I could use in the future. There was a post about a Pete the cat Thanksgiving activity, this activity had a super cute easy cat craft that went along with the book and lesson. This community also has a lot of resources to help early readers, there are videos and links that have helpful suggestions on what you can do to help a struggling reader in your class. If you're a hopeful kindergarten teacher like me I would really consider joining this community!
The second community I joined is called iPad lessons. This has everything you would ever need to know about iPads. I really recommend this site if you're new to iPads and Apple products. It has videos that go over specific things in resources on the iPad. There's a video on how to set up an Apple ID, this would be a good video to show to students if they are making one for the first time. It gives clear instructions so it would be easy for students to follow and understand. I see this site being very helpful to students and teachers. There are videos on how to use google classroom, how to back up your iPad and much more. If you're teaching at a school with iPads I would definitely follow this community because it will be helpful to you and maybe even suggest some apps you haven't heard of or thought about using before. Apps such as flipboard, google docs, or even how to use Siri in the classroom.
